Report on The 7th Shanghai Art Fair 2003
The 7th Shanghai Art Fair, held from October 28 to November 2,
2003, has come to a successful close. Containing up to 200 booths
with 18m2/ per booth and 166 booths with 9m2/ per booth altogether,
the exhibition hall for SAF exceed 13,000 square meters in total.
130 galleries and art agencies which come from domestic and overseas,
such as France, Russia, Sweden, America, Singapore, Korea, Japan,
and Italy, brought over 10,000 pieces of artworks to participate
in this year¡¯s Shanghai Art Fair. According to statistics, during
6 days of SAF 2003 visitors amount to 40,000, and volume of business
reaches to US$3,000,000.
¡¤General Introduction of
Shanghai Art Fair
With a population of 16 million, Shanghai is the joint point of
Chinese and Western culture which is a traditional open port. Not
only it is a cultural center with the largely compatible character,
but also the economic, financial, information, trading and shipping
heart of China. The average GDP per person reached over US$5,000
in 2003 just passed.
Since founded in 1997, Shanghai Art Fair has been pursuing ¡°Accelerating
Chinese and Foreign Art Exchange, Opening up International Art Market¡±
as its objective that could lead Shanghai to be a base for artwork-dealing
in Asia-Pacific region. Up till now SAF has been the largest scale
art exposition in Asia with multiple artworks presented.
Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, the sponsor of SAF, is
a governmental fund- organization; as the supporter, both of Shanghai
Media Group and Shanghai Wen Hui Xin Min Untied Press Group are
dominant media organizations in Shanghai. At present their subordinate
media propaganda extremely widespread covering throughout the country
and overseas, in particular satellite TV settled in over 100 cities
shows much better effect for promotion.
¡¤The 8th Shanghai Art Fair
2004
The 8th Shanghai Art Fair 2004 will be held from November 17 to
November 21, 2004, at ShanghaiMart which is located at the ¡°golden
sector¡± of Shanghai Hongqiao Economic and Technology Development
Zone continuously. Cost US$ 300 million investment, ShanghaiMart
is a specialized exhibition and trade center with international-level
as the first one with this kind in China built up in 1995. You will
feel truly convenient and comfortable because ShanghaiMart has advantageous
location, for instance, it is just about 5 km from ShanghaiMart
