Jiang Rong
Alias Linfeng, Jiang Rong was born in 1919 in Yixing, Jiangsu
province. She was brought up in a family of potters. She learned to
produce purple clay wares under her father Jiang Honggao. Since 1955,
she has worked at the Yixing Purple Clay Factory. She is now a famous
female craft master in her own right. She is presently a senior craft
master.
She likes to make teapots and implements for the desk and articles
modelled after fruits. Each article exhibits a fine workmanship of
its own. She has demonstrated a great combination of art and substance.
She can precisely take advantage of the special quality and characteristics
of purple clay to express her creative concept.
Most of her works are based on fishes, insects, flowers and fruits,
birds, and animals to express the joy of nature and the greatness
of life. Her portrayal of objects is vived and lifelike, consummate
in form and the use of color. She is able to demonstrate the elegance
of her works in details. Her works are given with an interesting appearance
without a stale taste. She is not only able to apply her outstanding
intelligence to express emotion through works, but also bring the
joy of this field with her innovation of decorating purple clay teapot
in the image of fruits. The art of teapot is diversifying through
her arts. The new generation of purple clay potters are deeply influenced
by her.
